Learning to Shoot: Terry Hershey Park
There is a 496 acre greenspace seven-tenths of a mile from my front door. Running parallel to Buffalo Bayou, this park is named in honor of Houstonian Terry Hershey, a conservationist who fought in the 1960s to keep the banks of Buffalo Bayou from becoming yet another Houston roadway. With dozens of miles of bike and running trails over rolling hills (a rarity in pancake-flat Houston), Hershey Trail is a tranquil, secluded preservation of nature in the middle of the ceaseless hustle of Houston. This bucolic slice of Space City is also an ideal locale for a me to hone my camera skills.
